A Book, Over There!

Here is a blog post.
Omit any line here that you like.
Maybe, you would like to hear about something else?
Even so, I should be reading.
Worry not, I hope to graduate.
One day in December, maybe I will then.
Really, I have to go, but writing things is fun.
Key to success: "become disciplined in your work."

A Change

A daisy in the sunlight of the day;
Its pedals speak of love and life and spring.
The April month will soon turn into may.
The trees, in growth, will add another ring.

Behold, a cloud is taking out the sun.
A tear falls down my shadow-laden cheek.
A joyful time, I surely know of none.
The past and all that follows is so bleak.

I scream but no one hears my painful call;
I yell, my mind is slowly going mad.
Upon the road, I see a young girl’s doll;
It now belongs to no one; life is bad.

The skies are red; they are so blood, blood red.
The golden age, I tell you, it is dead.

The Journey of a Hero

A world ordinary, so calm and so plain;
I look all around, but it all is the same.
And nothing is special about my own name.
No cloud in the sky on a day without rain.

But something's not right; it's unsettling here.
The call to adventure screams right in my ear.
The future is darkness; the darkness I fear.
My destiny's coming and now it draws near.

I will not do this; I refuse my own call.
I will not go fight them; my flesh, they will mar.
I will stay right here for out there is too far.
I'm needed right here; and in battle, I'll fall.

I met an old man and a mentor was he.
He taught me to fight well and never to flee.
He gave me a sword and a pearl of the sea.
The need of such things he explained I would see.

Embarked on my own and I came to a wall;
The only door there had a beast standing guard.
I pulled out my sword and I dealt him his card.
The first threshold crossed and the foe had his fall.

I faced many tests and I found a few friends;
I called them my allies; my wounds had their mends.
I faced many enemies; they met their ends.
New dangers arriving and moving like winds.

But there is the cave; I'm approaching it now.
I traveled so that I may come to this place.
Pure evil rests here and it breathes on my face.
The stench is horrific; so strong and so foul.

The battle draws nigh; the ordeal has now come.
A terrible giant; my stature, its thumb.
Bright light from my pearl and its body goes numb.
I plunge the sword deep, drawing blood mixed with rum.

The vict'ry is mine just as well as the gold.
An old book of wisdom, I find it here too.
And pearls like my own, I did gather a few.
Reward is so vast and its equal untold.

I take the road back, but I don't want to go.
I want to fight one more unbeatable foe.
I take the first steps, and indeed they are slow;
So much I have seen and so much I now know.

I take a bad step and I fall in a pit.
I fall to the bottom; and here I shall die.
But wait, I'm alive; I am starting to fly.
I've been resurrected; my pearl, it is lit.

Return with elixir of wisdom and bare
The pearls that I gathered and now I do share
My treasure with all; for my people I care.
For each of them faces their own giant's lair.

Truth to be Found

Everyone around is sleeping,
Sleeping without wake or sound.
Only I, awake and thinking,
Write the words before you now.

There are thoughts that have their movement
Inside of this mind of mine.
Here is passion and a hunger
For the things I want to find.

A Bible every jot and tittle
Giving knowledge from above.
Teaching truths of way eternal
Showing me the God of love.

The truth is hard and hard to swallow;
It won't change like I have to.
Jesus Christ whom I must follow
Shows the pathway for the few.

Paul writes that we, in fear and trembling,
Should work out our gift from God.
That gift is our own salvation;
God, forbid it be forgot.

Yea, forgot or lightly taken,
That is unacceptable.
Fix my eyes upon you, Jesus,
Not on faith but only You.

A Stream of Consciousness

So there I was, surrounded by like 50 men all dressed in black. I thought to myself, "This is like one of those things were everything comes out the way that it's supposed to, but at the moment it only looks like you're going to die and people will be at your funeral with flowers that smell like funeral homes." That's what I was thinking. But I knew I had to survive. Why you ask? Because if I didn't survive, I would be not around in order to do the only thing I was destined to do in life. And that is, be the man who accomplishes "The Deed." There has been many speculations over the past couple of years just about what that "Deed" is. People have come up with a number of theories. They range from "taking coffee pots and placing them inside of elevators in hospitals so that while you're going up to your deathbed, you can have one last cup of coffee to wake you up before you go to sleep" to "going to the dentist and having xrays done only to discover that your teeth are not made of enamel but in actuality are made of plutonium." That's not much of a deed, that second one. It's more of a discovery. Sometimes when I think of discoveries, I think of xboxs that have ravens inside of them. Now that's a discovery.

The Prediction

There once was a site named blogspot.
I did not use it a whole lot.
But in this new year
More stuff will be here
And then I'll get published and people will be like, "Man, how did he get so good with his measure? His iambic pentameter is awesome!"

The Innocent

Innocent lives are taken
So that innocent lives may be saved.
Who can decide such a fate?
In ignorance of their souls
It's easy to say, "Right choice."
I am the result of that choice.
My life was spared,
Theirs was not.
How many would have died
Had we not acted?
It was not their fault
That their government had made its move.
Still, I cannot say that it was the wrong choice.
It is almost conceit and obnoxiousness to utter those words.
What if I was the one standing there when the bomb was dropped?
However, where would my own family and home be
Had it not been?
Is there any answer to such questions?
I love my country;
For my freedom, I am not thankful enough.
But the innocent...
They died inside the blast radius,
Yet they live outside it too.
